Hi, I’m Yahtzio (aka Brent Cataldo), a digital motion design artist and director from Melbourne, Australia.
I work at the intersection of CGI, VFX and motion design to create short, conceptual, suspenseful, cinematic vignettes.
With a focus on particle and physics simulations my work explores a range of moods and tones. Often oscillating fluidly between natural and abstract forms to explore transformation and the tension between states. Usually as a single, continuous and uninterrupted loop.
My social-first approach captivates and builds tension, all in a single moment. A style that is easily adaptable to any format, from traditional aspect ratios to custom-designed installations.
I graduated in 2013 from Swinburne University of Technology with a Bachelor of Digital Media Design, where I focused on film, animation, motion design, and games. The degree gave me a strong foundation in both technical execution and visual storytelling, which continues to inform my creative practice today.
Prior to this chapter, I spent nearly a decade working in motion graphics primarily for internal comms, producing content like keynote visuals, B2B explainers, instructional pieces and training materials. As well as various social and digital assets.
Over the last few years I have shifted focus to a more personal and expressive practice that is now ready to move into the right kinds of opportunities.
